Susan Noble
Susan is a North-East based printmaker working mainly through the medium of reduction linocut printing, using just one block and a process of overprinting to produce a complete range of tones and colours. Susan studied art at college before gaining a degree in Archaeology at the University of Nottingham. Subsequent degrees in IT and French followed, then she spent nearly 20 years working in digital education and international data, and managed to fit in a litt;e sketching and painting in her spare time. After taking a linoprinting course at Northern Print Studios in Newcastle in 2017 and practicing on an old Victorian nipping press, Susan rediscovered her love of art and was inspired to start print making full time. Born in Guisborough, Susan grew up in the coastal town of Saltburn-by-the-sea in North Yorkshire. She draws her inspiration from these surroundings and bases her work on her own sketches and photos. She enjoys the mindful process of printmaking, from sketching and transferring an initial image, to planning out the layers of colour necessary to achieve the desired final print - and delights in the sometimes happy accidents along the way. She produces limited edition prints with short runs,h_400,c_fill/kxl0yfwejo5ksb07kfds.jpg
